MAINE'S MARIO WEST CALLED-UP TO ATLANTA HAWKS
The Atlanta Hawks yesterday signed Mario West of the Maine Red Claws. West, the sixth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League Season, and the first Red Claws player to earn a Call-Up, joins 65 other NBA players with NBA D-League experience. West has appeared in 11 games for Maine this season, six as a starter, and is averaging 13.7 points, 4.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds. He has scored in double figures on eight occasions, recording a season-high 19 points twice, both victories over the Springfield Armor. West returns to Atlanta following a two-year stint with the team (2007-09), most recently appearing in five games for the Hawks during the 2009 preseason, when he scored 11 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. In 117 career games during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 campaigns with the Hawks he has amassed 102 points and 104 rebounds.
FORT WAYNE REACQUIRES JAMELLE CORNLEY
The NBA D-League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants announced yesterday that they have reacquired Jamelle Cornley and Jared Reiner has been released due to injury. Cornely, a Penn State standout, was waived on Nov.18 due to a knee injury where he later had surgery. Reiner is suffering from a back injury and will not be traveling with the team this week as they take on the Erie BayHawks and the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Reiner was averaging 15.5 points and 10.3 rebounds in 10 games for the Ants.
