Colorado Rapids News Release
QUERÉTARO, Mexico - The Rapids secured their second five-goal performance in two games on Friday afternoon, toppling Atlante FC 5-1 in their final preseason scrimmage held in Mexico. Darren Yapi, Calvin Harris, Jonathan Lewis, Rafael Navarro and Kévin Cabral each got on the board in the resounding victory over the Liga MX side.
The match was comprised of two 60-minute halves, with a full lineup change after halftime. Colorado started strong with a goal in the second minute. Cole Bassett's cross into the box found Darren Yapi to put the Rapids on the board early and set the tone. Oliver Larraz and Calvin Harris combined just minutes later to double the score-Larraz's drive up the pitch led Harris to beat his defender and put a far post shot in after catching a deflection. Harris' goal marks his third in two games after recording a brace against Querétaro FC.
The second half got off to a quick start as well, with 61st and 64th-minute goals from Lewis and Navarro. The two strikers took turns scoring and assisting one another, as Navarro slotted a pass onto the box for an unmarked Lewis, and Lewis returned the favor for Navarro's quick turn and shot into the upper 90 minutes later.
Atlante FC got on the board in the 103rd minute, but failed to convert a penalty kick later in attempts to close the gap when the shot hit the post.
Cabral capped off the match with a goal of his own in the 116th minute after the Frenchman found himself unmarked on the back post, easily sending a pass from Lewis into the net.
The Rapids return to Colorado briefly before heading to Orlando, Florida, for their second preseason stint.

Colorado Rapids - 5
