Naurato Named IHL Rookie Of The Week

PORT HURON, MI - Port Huron Icehawks forward Brandon Naurato was named International Hockey League Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 21, the league announced on Monday.
Naurato finished Week 19 with three points on two goals and one assist with a plus-three rating in three games played. He dished out an assist in the Icehawks 4-1 win over Fort Wayne on Friday and recorded a pair of goals on Saturday to lead his team to a 4-1 victory over Bloomington. He had his four game point streak snapped on Sunday when he was held scoreless in Quad City. He scored two goals and two assists during the streak.
The 25-year old Livonia, Michigan native is ranked fifth among all IHL rookies in scoring with 15 goals and 15 assists this season and is ranked fourth among rookies in goals (15), despite playing in 15 fewer games than most of his competitors. He also leads the entire league in shootout goals with five.
Naurato takes home honors for the second time this season. He was also named Rookie of the Week in Week Nine.
After winning three games on the road last weekend, the Icehawks return home riding a four game winning streak. They host the first place Muskegon Lumberjacks on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and will take on the Quad City Mallards on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Former Detroit Red Wing Joe Kocur will sign autographs at Tuesday's game as part of the Red Wings Legend Series.
