Tulsa, OK - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals used a four-run fourth inning to defeat the Springfield Cardinals 4-3 on Thursday night at Hammons field. The win snaps the Naturals four-game losing streak and gives them sole possession of second place in the Texas League's North Division.

The Springfield Cardinals jumped out to a two-run lead against Naturals' starter Michael Mariot in the second inning. Greg Garcia delivered a two-run double to score Kyle Conley and Xavier Scruggs to make it 2-0. Mariot went five innings allowing seven hits and two runs, while walking two and striking out six.

The Naturals got a big inning in the top of fourth plating four runs. The offense got RBI singles from Mario Lisson, Rey Navarro, and Sharlon Schoop to take a 3-2 lead. Catcher Julio Rodriguez then reached on an error by the Cardinals third baseman Jose Garcia, Navarro scored on the play to make it a 4-2 game. Richard Castillo went six innings in the start for the Cardinals allowing seven hits and four runs, three of which were earned.

Patrick Keating came on in the eighth inning after Buddy Baumann got Jake Shaffer to ground out to start the inning. Keating surrendered a solo home run to Scruggs, his tenth of the season that cut the Naturals lead to 4-3.

Ryan Dennick came on in the ninth inning for the Naturals and worked around a one-out walk to Jose Garcia to earn his second save of the year.

The same two teams will continue their four-game series tomorrow night at 7:08 PM. The Naturals will send Justin Marks (3-2, 3.38) against a starter yet to be determined for the Springfield Cardinals. The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
