FRISCO, TX- The Frisco RoughRiders shuout the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 3-0 in the first game of a double-header on Sunday afternoon.
Tommy Mendonca got the RoughRiders on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. Engel Beltre knocked in the second run of the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
Noel Arguelles (3-13) went five innings allowing four hits and two runs, while walking three and striking out six. His counterpart Neil Ramirez (2-3) went five innings allowing one hit, walking one and fanning three.
Mendonca blasted his second home run of the game, also a solo shot in the bottom of sixth. The home run was the fourth of the season for Mendonca, and it gave the RoughRiders a 3-0 lead. Ryan Rodenbaugh worked two innings allowing just one hit to earn his fourth save of the season.
Left-hander Justin Marks (3-4, 3.93) will start game two against the RoughRiders right-hander Cody Buckel (3-5, 4.75). The game can be heard on ESPN 92.1 The Ticket.
