U17 TEAM EARNS THREE OF FOUR POINTS: The U.S. National Under-17 Team earned three out of a possible four points in its regular season debut last weekend in United States Hockey League action. After a convincing, 10-3, victory over Youngstown on Friday (Sept. 30), the U17s comeback bid was stopped just short as they fell in a shootout to Chicago, 3-2, the following night (Oct. 1). This weekend Team USA faces the Indiana Ice on both Friday (Oct. 7) and Saturday (Oct. 8) at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. ET both nights.

U18 TEAM TO FACE TOP-RANKED COLLEGIATE TEAMS: The U.S. National Under-18 Team will face two top-ranked collegiate teams this weekend after being clipped by No. 9 Michigan on Monday (Oct. 3) night. Team USA will face the University of Denver (Oct. 7) at Magness Arena at 9:37 p.m. ET and Colorado College (Oct. 8) at World Arena at 9:07 p.m. ET.

U18s FALL AT UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN: Nicolas Kerdiles (Irvine, Calif.) notched the lone goal as the U.S. National Under-18 Team fell, 3-1, to the University of Michigan at Yost Arena on Monday (Oct. 3). The defeat came in Team USA's first matchup against a collegiate opponent this season. Jared Rutledge (Chicago, Ill.) made 33 saves for Team USA in the loss.

U17s DOWN YOUNGSTOWN: Connor Chatham (Belleville, Ill.) and Tyler Motte (St. Clair, Mich.) each recorded three points as the U.S. National Under-17 Team downed the Youngstown Phantoms, 10-3, at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube (Sept. 30). The victory marked the first game of the USHL regular season for the younger U.S. squad.

U17s TRIPPED UP BY CHICAGO IN SHOOTOUT: Curtis Frye (Northwood, N.H.) made 40 saves in goal, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell in a shootout to the Chicago Steel, 3-2, at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube (Oct. 1). Team USA earned one point in the standings and three of four from the weekend.

CLIFTON JOINS UNDER-17 TEAM: Defenseman Connor Clifton (Matawan, N.J.) has been added to the U.S. National Under-17 Team roster and will join the team immediately. Clifton comes to Team USA after spending last season with the New Jersey Hitmen of the Empire Junior Hockey League. He also skated for Team USA in the 2011 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament held in Ann Arbor in August. Clifton scored one goal in four games as the U.S. claimed the tournament title.

UNDER-18 TEAM NEWS/NOTES: Defenseman Jacob Trouba (Rochester, Mich.) recently announced his intention to attend the University of Michigan next season. He joins fellow blueliner and teammate Connor Carrick (Orland Park, Ill.) as future Wolverines. A total of 15 U.S. National Under-18 Team players have verbally committed to Division I schools ... Team USA is beginning a stretch in which they will face five straight collegiate opponents. The U18s will not compete within the USHL until Oct. 21 when the Dubuque Fighting Saints visit the Ann Arbor Ice Cube ... The U.S. power play is clicking at a 21 percent success rate ... Team USA is 24-27 in killing penalties ... The Under-18 Team holds a 164-115 advantage in shots taken per game ... When the U.S. takes on the University of Denver on Friday, the Shore family will have a cheering section on both sides of the puck. Quentin Shore (Denver, Colo.), a forward for Team USA, will square off against brothers Drew (Denver, Colo./2007-09) and Nick (Denver, Colo./2008-10). The brothers form the first ever trio to play for the National Team Development Program.

UNDER-17 TEAM NEWS/NOTES: Forward J.T. Compher (Northbrook, Ill.) was recognized as Offensive Player of the Week in the USHL. Compher notched three goals in two games and finished the weekend with a plus-3 rating. In his first regular season tilt, Compher scored two goals against the Phantoms and followed that performance with another goal in a shootout loss to Chicago Saturday ... Tyler Motte leads the league in points with four (1-3) in two games ... Connor Chatham is a team best plus-6 ... Every skater on the U.S. National Under-17 Team roster, minus newcomer Connor Clifton, has notched at least one point to date this season ... Thanks in part to a 5-13 power play effort on Sept. 30 against Youngstown, the Under-17 Team holds a 25 percent success rate with the man advantage through five games ... Team USA is 24-30 in killing penalties ... The U.S. is averaging 37.60 shots per game and holding opponents to 28.60.
