
NASL Best XI Midfielder Miguel Ibarra Signs Extension with Minnesota

Minneapolis, Minn. (Thursday, April 3, 2013) -- Minnesota United has announced that 2013 North American Soccer League Best XI midfielder Miguel Ibarra has signed a contract extension to play into the future with the club. Terms of the extension were not disclosed.
"We are very excited that both the club and Miguel are committed to build a great team now and a great club for the future," said United head coach Manny Lagos. "On top of that, he is a great person and an outstanding figure in the community."
The 24-year old Ibarra has played in Minnesota since 2012, joining the club after participating in the Portland Timbers' preseason camp. In 30 appearances in 2012, Ibarra recorded five goals and five assists, including a game-winning goal against the Puerto Rico Islanders in the first round of the playoffs and an assist in the NASL Championship Series against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
In 2013, Ibarra's second season with Minnesota United FC, he made 26 appearances. Ibarra tallied one goal and three assists in 2013. The speedy winger was named to the NASL Team of the Week three times and named to the NASL Best XI at the end of the season.
"Words can't explain how happy I am to be staying here and continuing my career with the team and organization," said Ibarra. "I never expected the love this organization has shown me. The confidence Manny has in me pushes me to work harder. I will give my all for this team and organization. I hope I can help the club get better every year and win championships."
