Silverbacks Sign Sounders Forward Estrada on Loan
April 3, 2014 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Atlanta Silverbacks News Release
Atlanta, Ga. (April 3, 2014) - The Atlanta Silverbacks have bolstered their attack with another proven goalscorer, signing forward David Estrada on loan from Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders FC, the club announced Thursday.
Selected in the first round of the 2010 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft, the Mexican-born Estrada has made 40 appearances (18 starts) in his five seasons with Sounders FC, scoring five goals. Estrada has made 17 appearances in each of the last two seasons in Seattle, and on March 14, 2012, he became the third player in club history to tally a hat trick when he put three goals past Toronto FC in a league game.
Estrada, 26, becomes the second Sounders FC player to join the Silverbacks on loan in recent years, joining defender Andrew Duran, who was in Atlanta during the 2012 North American Soccer League (NASL) season.
The Silverbacks' newest addition is already in Atlanta with his new teammates, and will be available for selection when the team kicks of its 2014 NASL season against the New York Cosmos on April 13 in Hempstead, N.Y.
