NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Soccer Club will prepare for two matches this week, starting at 6:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday May 23 with a Round of 16 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Inter Miami CF at DRV PNK Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and a home match against Columbus Crew at GEODIS Park on Sunday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. CT in a match that will serve to kick off PRIDE month. Tickets for Sunday's match are available at www.NashvilleSC.com/tickets.
Nashville earned its place in the Round of 16 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup after a 1-0 Third Round victory over San Antonio FC of the USL Championship on April 26, followed by a 2-0 Round of 32 win over FC Dallas on May 10, with both matches played at GEODIS Park.
In MLS competition, Nashville is coming off a dramatic 2-1 road victory over Charlotte FC on Saturday night in which reigning 2022 Landon Donovan MLS MVP Hany Mukhtar secured a brace that included a 93rd minute goal from the penalty spot.
In second place in the Eastern Conference, Nashville SC (7W-3L-4D, 25 pts.) is on an eight-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, including the Open Cup.
On Saturday, Mukhtar became the fifth fastest player in MLS history to produce 50 regular season career goals and 30 career assists, behind only Carlos Vela (69 games), Sebastian Giovinco (78 games), Robbie Keane (82 games) and Jamie Moreno (92). Mukhtar now has 51 MLS regular season goals and 33 assists in 93 matches.
Sunday will mark the fourth meeting between Columbus and Nashville, yet the first at GEODIS Park, with Nashville owning a 1W-1L-2D record. The two sides met once in Music City in a 1-1 draw on Oct. 20, 2021 at Nissan Stadium.
In preparation for Sunday's tilt, Nashville SC Head Coach Gary Smith will address the media on Friday, May 26 at approximately 12 p.m. CT. Media members interested in attending the session must RSVP to Communications@NashvilleSC.com by EOD Wednesday.
NSC Backstage, the official weekly radio show of Nashville SC will air on 104.5 The Zone this Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT. Featuring the voices of Will Boling, Lucas Panzica and Jalil Anibaba, fans will be able to listen to interviews with players and staff.
Sunday's match against Columbus Crew will serve as the club's PRIDE Night as Nashville SC will highlight the LGBTQ+ community and raise funds in support. Fans will be able to purchase the 2023 PRIDE Patch with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Tennessee Pride Chamber. The patch is available for purchase through Friday, June 30 at both the Nashville SC Team Store and online at www.nashvillescmobileshop.com.
Sunday night will also feature exclusive NSC PRIDE Night merchandise for supporters to purchase inside of GEODIS Park while supplies last. As the Boys in Gold are warming up in preparation for the match, they will be sporting the 2023 Pride adidas jersey top which is also available for purchase.
Upon arrival, fans can participate in the PRIDE Plaza Party on the North Plaza of GEODIS Park which will feature vendors, artists, allies, and music by DJ Manrelic. Please see below for the additional artists from the LGBTQ+ community who will perform on Sunday night.
