Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville SC will play the back half of a two-match homestand when the club hosts the Philadelphia Union at GEODIS Park on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Boys in Gold won't play again until Saturday, April 20 at Inter Miami CF, with next weekend serving as a bye week.
Here are five things to know for Saturday's match, airing live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and via Nashville SC's flagship station, 104.5 the Zone's Stream.
1. With a 2-2 draw last weekend at GEODIS Park against defending MLS Cup Champions the Columbus Crew, Nashville SC remains unbeaten at GEODIS Park this season across all competitions. The Boys in Gold are 2W-0L-4D at the Castle in 2024 (1W-0L-3D in MLS; 1W-0L-1D in Concacaf Champions Cup).
2. The first-ever match at GEODIS Park was played between Nashville SC and the Union, a 1-1 draw on May 1, 2022 in front of a sellout crowd. Midfielder Randall Leal (currently injured) scored the first GEODIS Park goal for the Boys in Gold on a penalty kick in the 85th minute to secure the tie.
3. Nashville SC forward Jacob Shaffelburg enters Saturday night on a hot streak across international and MLS play, following an international goal for the Canadian Men's National Team in a 2-0 Copa America play-in victory on March 23 and two assists for Nashville SC in last Saturday's 2-2 draw against Columbus.
4. Boys in Gold defenders Taylor Washington and Dan Lovitz have ties to the City of Brotherly Love. Washington, who is Nashville SC's longest tenured player, was drafted by the Union 23rd overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, while Lovitz is from Wyndmoor, Pa., a Philadelphia suburb.
5. Nashville SC will get some well-deserved rest after Saturday night's match, with the weekend of April 12 serving as the team's bye week. When the final whistle blows against Philly, the Boys in Gold will have played 11 matches in the last 45 days between MLS and Concacaf Champions Cup play.
