ROUND ROCK - Hunter Pence doubled and walked in his return to Round Rock, but it wasn't nearly enough to help the Express overcome Nashville's hitting spree.

The Sounds cranked out three home runs en route to a 9-2 win over Round Rock at The Dell Diamond. Pence, who spent 22 games with the Express before joining Houston in April, finished 1-for-3.

Pence, who went on the disabled list on July 23 with a wrist injury, doubled Danny Ardoin to third in the bottom of the sixth, setting Ardoin up for Round Rock's first run on a Brooks Conrad sacrifice fly.

The Express picked up another run on Brian Gordon's pitch-hit single in the eighth.

Nashville jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second, riding two singles, a double and a Callix Crabbe home run. The Sounds continued to peck away at Gothreaux in the third, tacking on three more runs.

Drew Anderson led off with a single to right field and Andy Abad followed with a one-out single past second base before Laynce Nix cranked his 19th home run of the season to left-centerfield.

Josh Miller entered for Gothreaux with one away in the third and allowed a pair of runs in the fourth on two hits, including an Anderson home run.

The two teams meet again Sunday at 6:05 p.m. Fans can listen live on 1260 AM, 1530 AM or at www.roundrockexpress.com.
