Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

Seth Smith became the third Sky Sox player in the team's 20-year history to hit for the cycle as he completed the feat as part of a 5-for-6 night at the plate. On the evening, Smith accumulated 14 total bases, five runs scored and four RBI. His five runs tied the Sky Sox single game record and his 14 total bases were one short of the record held by Luis Medina and Jorge Piedra.

Smith singled in the first, homered in the third, doubled in the fourth and flew out in the fifth to set up the rare feat. In the seventh, Smith drilled a pitch to right-center field that was chased down by Las Vegas centerfielder Choo Freeman, who just so happened to be the last Sky Sox player to hit for the cycle on August 25, 2005. Smith churned around the bases and slid safely into third to complete a cycle of his own. To cap it all off, Smith smashed a three-run homer in the eighth to top off the Sox 13 run night.
