Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies and Salt Lake Bees were engaged in a good old-fashioned chess match Saturday, with the Grizzlies eventually prevailing in a 2-0 bout.

Grizzlies starter Sun-Woo Kim and Bees starter Henry Bonilla-each donning the No. 35 jersey-battled through four and a half innings before the Grizzlies (66-62) finally stung the Bees (67-59) with a pair of solo home runs in the fifth inning.

The two home runs came courtesy of Justin Leone and William Bergolla, their 20th and fifth home runs of the season, respectively. As it turned out, that would prove to be more than enough run support for Kim (6-7).

The Grizzlies and Bees combined for just 10 hits in the game, which went just one hour and 53 minutes, just a minute longer than the Grizzlies' shortest game this season.

For Kim, it was the first time all season that the right-hander went into the eighth inning, and he would go beyond that as he threw his first complete game and shutout of the season. It is the second time this season a Grizzlies pitcher has thrown a shutout this year, with Fresno starter Chris Begg being the first. It is also just the seventh shutout of the year in the Pacific Coast League.

Salt Lake pitcher Bonilla (11-7) also pitched a complete game for the Bees, with the only two blunders on his record being the two solo home runs.

As the Grizzlies continue their series with the Bees Sunday night at 6:05, the fun keeps on coming as Fresno nears the completion of their home schedule. Hot dogs will be 25 cents all game long, thanks to Evergood Fine Foods and the first 2,500 fans will receive team photos courtesy of Chukchansi. Also on tap for the final Sunday home game of the year- a Grizzlies pregame autograph session presented by ABC 30; Kids Run the Bases, presented by Del Taco; and a the baseball classic movie "The Rookie" will be shown on the Chukchansi Park video board following the game.
