Nashville makes it three in a row over Carolina
December 17, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Charlotte Krunk News Release
Nashville, TN. The Nashville Rhythm played a similar tune defeating the surging Carolina Thunder 102-91. Coming off their first two game win streak, Carolina looked to avenge two early season home losses to the Rhythm. While only turning the ball over 10 times, a season low, the Thunder was not able to withstand the skills of Dontae Jones. Jones, who scored 67 ponits during the first two contests, continued his above average heroics finishing with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Jones gave the hungry fans plenty to digest with a series of well contested post moves and accurate jump shooting.
While playing withou its leading point getter Anthony Terrell, Carolina fought back from an early Nashville lead with a 13-5 runs of its own to close the gap to six at the end of the first quarter. Thunder guard Brett Harper provided most of Carolina's offensive punch with 27 points; Chris Robinson had 13, Steve Cox 12.
Carolina played an intense final 24 minutes giving home fans an effort few had seen from the seemingly better focused road warriors. It was a great game all around.
Carolina will regroup and focus on starting a new win streak as they welcome the Maryland Nighthawks next Thursday night. Nashville will take their string music to Georgia to face the Reigning Knights on Sunday.
