From the Notes
21 and Counting: Nick Martini extended his hitting streak to 21 games Tuesday afternoon with a triple in the first inning. He's hitting .378 (34-for-90) with 15 runs, 14 RBI, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs and 9 walks during the streak that is the second-longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League. Martini's streak is tied the fifth-longest by a Sounds player in the PCL era. Adam Hyzdu holds the Sounds PCL era record by hitting safely in 26 straight games in 2001. Vinny Rottino is second with a 24-game streak in 2008 while Eugenio Velez (2013) and Darryl Brinkley (1998) are tied for the third-longest streak by a Sounds player with 22-game hitting streaks.
52 and Counting: Nick Martini extended his on-base streak to 52 games Tuesday afternoon with a triple in the first inning. He's hitting .344 (65-for-189) with 34 runs, 30 RBI, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs and 37 walks during the streak that is the longest in Minor League Baseball. The 52-game streak is the longest by a Nashville Sounds player in the Pacific Coast League era. Since MLBAM began tracking on-base streaks in 2009, Martini's 52-game streak is the 4th-longest in professional baseball. The longest on-base streak in professional baseball since 2009 belongs to Andrew Velazquez of Single-A South Bend when he reached in 74 straight games in 2014.
Against Round Rock: Tonight is the sixth of 16 meetings between these two American Southern Division rivals. Nashville took the season-series against Round Rock in 2017 by winning nine of the 17 games. Since Round Rock was awarded a franchise in 2005 the two ball clubs have split the 214 games they have played against each other. Nashville is 59-45 all-time against Round Rock in Nashville.
Home, Sweet Home: Nashville is back at the friendly confines of First Tennessee Park, where it has thrived this season. Nashville is 20-15 with a 3.08 ERA at home compared to 12-22 with a 5.47 ERA on the road. Tonight's starter for the Honky Tonks, Eric Jokisch has a 3.25 ERA at First Tennessee Park compared to a 5.92 ERA on the road.
Battle for the Boot: For the second straight season the Honky Tonks and Dance Halls will square off in the Battle for the Boot series. Last season the Dance Halls won both games in the series to claim the Boot Trophy but this year the series is nine-games, five in Round Rock from May 30-June 3 and four in Nashville from June 21-24. Round Rock won three of the five games played at Dell Diamond and need to win two of the four games in the current series to claim the Boot Trophy.
