American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release

(Ottawa, ON, June 4, 2008) Nashua Pride starting pitcher Lance Stevens went seven innings for a second consecutive outing, allowing just 3 hits, while walking three, and striking out a season high seven, to lead the Pride to a 6-3 win over Ottawa.

Bryan Duplissie crushed his first home run of the season, the eventual game winning hit, in the top of the sixth, with Luis Rodriguez at first base to give the Pride a 5-0 lead at the time. Designated hitter Dennis Abreu hit his first homer of the year to lead off what was a three run Nashua inning.

Stevens was dominant through five innings, no-hitting the Rapidz until the lead off batter in the top of the sixth, Maxime Bouchard, hit a sinking line drive single into center field. Ottawa finally got to Stevens in the bottom of the seventh, when after left fielder Jereme Milons reached on an error, and first baseman Jabe Bergeron walked, catcher Kyle Geiger hit a three run shot over the wall in left center field, his third of the season.

Pride reliever Mike Joyce took over in the eighth inning, inducing an inning ending double play after Rapidz third baseman Juan Carlos Infante reached on an error. Closer Andrew Weimer nailed down his third save of the season, and second in back-to-back nights, shutting down Ottawa in the ninth.

Duplissie finished the game 3-for-4, with a single, double, home run, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI. Abreu also ended his night with three hits, going 3-for-5, with a home run.

The Pride wrap-up the three game series with the Rapidz before heading to Quebec, on Thursday morning at 11:05am, when Nicolas Suero (0-2) makes his third start of the season for Nashua. Noel Baca III (0-0) is anticipated to start for Ottawa.

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
