Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
A day after the Grand Rapids Rampage beat the Nashville Kats, head coach Sparky McEwen received news that one of his former players was drafted by the Kats' parent NFL team. With the 137th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans selected linebacker Terna Nande, who played at Creston High School under McEwen from 1999-2002.
At Creston, Nande led the Polar Bears to a 39-12 record over four seasons including two city championships, a regional championship and a state runner-up finish in 1999. He earned three-time all-city and two-time all-area selection, while being named first-team all-state as a senior.
Following his high school career, Nande attended Miami University (Ohio), where he earned all-MAC selection twice. A liver injury during his senior year hampered Nande's draft status. At the NFL Combine, he bench-pressed 225-pounds a linebacker record 41 times and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds.
