Kentucky Bisons News Release

Owensboro, KY. The ABA Kentucky Bisons had scheduled an exhibition game against Owensboro's own Brescia University Bearcats. Unfortunately, the NAIA rules have put a stop to the game. Much to the surprise of Brescia Coach Joe Pechota after agreeing to the game, he discovered that playing the Bisons would put the team over the limit of 32 total games for the season. NAIA rules only give teams two (2) exhibition games and the Bearcats had previously locked those in with other teams.

Officials at the Kentucky Bisons stated that they already had a Plan B and the charity game would go on as scheduled. They announced that they would be playing an exhibition game against another ABA expansion team, the West Virginia Outlaws. The Outlaws are a solid team with players like former NBA player and East Tennessee State forward 6'11 Greg Dennis, WVU player Lionel Armstead, 7'0" Ernest Vickers and former Kentucky Mr. Basketball, J.R. VanHoose.

The game will be played at the Owenboro SportsCenter on October 12th and the doors open at 12noon. The team is hosting a "corn hole" tournament with all of the proceeds going to the local Boys & Girls Club. At the gate, there is a charity drive for the Tri-State Food Bank, the event is free, any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Donations over $5 will get you in a drawing to win tickets and other prizes. The Owensboro City Police will also be there to offer finger printing for the children through their child safety program and everyone is invited to attend.
