Texas Fuel News Release

The South Texas Showboats have announced a game in which they will be competing against the Air force on Sunday October 11 at 2pm in San Antonio, TX at Lackland Air force Base. "This is a real honor to be able to compete against our local Air force team October 11 here in San Antonio. San Antonio is synonymous with basketball and I believe this kind of opportunity will give us some exposure with our new expansion team here." said Coach Mireles. The Showboats are the first ever minor-league professional basketball team in San Antonio, Tx since the San Antonio Spurs merged from the ABA to the NBA in 1976. This will be a great opportunity for this team to be able to co-exist with a Championship Team in the NBA. "We believe that within time, we will be able to benefit both the local community and the San Antonio Spurs with really great players from all over the map. We want to bring in caliber players who are positive role models to the youth in our community and for teams to be able to scout our players. said coach Mireles.

The Showboats have also agreed to host a game against the San Angelo Chaparrals from the TPBL. This game is scheduled for Sunday October 19, 2008 at 5pm-8pm at Antioch Sports Complex in San Antonio, TX. "We are happy to be able to get these games this month. It will be good for my guys to get these games under their belt and for them to get some reps. We believe we can compete at a high level and will do our best to show our city we will have a good team this year."said Head Coach/Owner Benjamin Mireles
