NAHL Showcase Set to Begin Wednesday

September 16, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
U.S. National Team News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The sixth annual Sherwood/North American Hockey League Showcase Tournament will take place this week from Wednesday, September 17 through Sunday, September 21 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

All 18 NAHL teams will play four regular-season games at the Showcase, as will both teams from the USA Hockey National Team Development Program, which last year produced 11 National Hockey League draft picks.

In conjunction with the Showcase, the league will also host its first Sherwood/NAHL Future Prospects Tournament of the season, an event highlighting 56 of the top Midget and Bantam teams in the county over a span of four days.

"This event, both in terms of size and prestige, rivals any in North America," said Mark Frankenfeld, now in his third year as commissioner of the NAHL, the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior A league in the country. "And that says a lot about how far our league has come over the last few years, both from a development and exposure perspective and a marketing standpoint."

Tournament passes ($50-Adult; $20-Student/Senior) and daily passes ($15-Adult; $8-Student/Senior) will be available for purchase at the Super Rink during the Showcase.

All NAHL games, as well as all three championship games of the Future Prospects Tournament, will be broadcast live via the Internet through B2 Networks. Individual games can be viewed for $7 by logging on to NAHLShowcase.com.
