Nagy Named Offensive Player Of The Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Destroyers quarterback Matt Nagy has been named the Arena Football League's Offensive Player of the Week for the Wild Card Round, the AFL and Destroyers announced today.
Nagy (6-2, 225, Delaware) completed 19-of-26 passes (73.1 %) for 260 yards and five touchdowns in the franchise's first playoff victory against the Tampa Bay Storm last Saturday. The five-year veteran, also rushed for a touchdown with :07 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 55-55.
The 341 pass completions and 75 touchdown passes Nagy has with the Destroyers makes him the all-time franchise leader in both categories. He ranks second on the all-time franchise list with a 62.6 completion percentage and ranks fourth in team history with 3,557 yards passing.
Nagy joins defensive back/wide receiver B.J. Barre as Destroyers' recipients of weekly awards during the 2007 AFL season. Barre was named AFL Ironman of the Week for his performance in Week 11.
The Destroyers march to ArenaBowl XXI continues Saturday, July 7, when they travel to take on the Dallas Desperados. Kickoff at American Airlines Center is set for 8 p.m. (ET) with live coverage on Russell Athletic Arena Football on ESPN with Mark Jones and Merril Hoge calling the action. The Destroyers Radio Network and flagship station WINK 107.1 FM will air the National Conference Divisional game with the pre-game show beginning at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
