Coach's Corner

Each Week Mystics Head Coach Richie Adubato will give his take on the Mystics upcoming opponents.

On Indiana

"With the upcoming game against Indiana, this is a very valuable time period for us. It's almost like a mini training camp to finally put our team together because we are healthy now. We are finally putting the pieces together as far as plays at the end of the game, our execution of our offense, and our offensive flow; where we push the ball and get easy baskets. And then our execution of our late game plays to get the ball in the hands of the people we know can deliver. That can be done this week. It's a blessing that we have this week."

Player's Lounge

Chasity Melvin on being on the ALL-STAR Ballot

"I have to been more consistent, that's for sure. I can only do what I can do; every game I'm not going to play perfect. It is obviously a short season; I need to have a really good game before voting is finished. I just try to come out and help my team, and I feel that if I do that everything else will come together."

Kaayla Chones on her father, former NBA player Jim Chones

"My dad is the biggest influence in my life. He is very supportive and has always been encouraging me. Now that I am here playing in the league, he is just overwhelmed. He's so excited and very happy for me. He calls me everyday and we talk about basketball."

Dad & Daughters/Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself

The Washington Mystics will host the WNBA's initiative "Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself" as well as "Dads and Daughters Day," on Saturday, June 18th at 6:00 p.m. when the team face-off against the Indiana Fever.

To get in the spirit of Fathers Day, the Mystics will host "Dads and Daughters Day" on June 18th. This is a way to celebrate the bond between dads and their daughters by inviting them to experience female athleticism at its best.

"Be Smart, Be Fit, Be Yourself" is a program designed by the WNBA to positively influence young people and women to become physically active and to raise awareness about how being fit improves health, self image and overall well being. The WNBA'S "Be Smart-Be Fit-Be Yourself" is designed to educate teens and women about the risks and dangers of obesity and inactivity and to answer questions about healthy nutrition and lifestyle choices.

Prior to the start of the game, there will be a clinic held on the practice court. Mystics player Alana Beard and Wizards head coach Eddie Jordan will be on hand to talk about the importance of physical activities. A nutritionist will also give a presentation on healthy eating.

Alaniacs

For the second year, Washington Mystics guard, Alana Beard will sponsor The Alaniacs. For every home game Beard has purchased enough tickets for 25 young girls' ages 12-16 to sit in a special section called The Alaniacs. All participating groups will receive t-shirts and will be featured on the Jumbotron during the game.

All groups that are interesting in participating in this program should send a letter to the Washington Mystics Community Relations Department explaining why their group deserves the tickets. All letters should be sent to:
