Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Mustangs, an expansion team in the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL), announced its second signing today, inking Nestor Hernandez to a one year contract.
Nestor, 24, is a Chicago native who attended Guerin Prep and Morton West High School before starting all four years at Division 2 Lewis University, where he was a three-time All-American.
"I am excited for the opportunity to play at the highest level of the indoor game," said Hernandez. "I have been enjoying training camp, and the instruction I have received from the staff all around me. I would like to thank the Chicago Mustangs staff for giving me this opportunity and I will not let them down."
The Mustangs, who have been training at Grand Sports Arena in Hoffman Estates, are building a roster from scratch. The team announced its first signing last week when they introduced Jay Lee Harris.
"Nestor was a standout from tryouts that left a lasting impression on everyone in the organization," said Mustangs General Manager Nasser Rafidia. "He is bound to have a great professional career, and I am excited to give him the opportunity to start that career here."
The Mustangs are part of the PASL's Central Division along with the Rockford Rampage, Dallas Sidekicks, Texas Strikers, and Rio Grande Valley Flash. The PASL has expanded to a 19-team circuit as it heads into its fifth season.
The Mustangs take the field in their first game at Grand Sports Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL, on November 10. Fans can now buy tickets by calling (847)233-8000. Pre-sale general admission tickets are on sale now for only $7.00.
