Las Vegas Legends to Host Luis "el Matador" Hernandez and Stars of Mexico at Orleans Arena

World class footballers will be strapping on their indoor soccer shoes to do battle at Orleans Arena this Thursday.
The historic night will start at 5:00pm with a tailgate party followed by the Las Vegas Legends and Stars of Mexico game at 7:00pm.
Luis "el Matador" Hernandez and German Villa will lead the Stars of Mexico against the Legends. The two of them have a combined 153 caps for the Mexican senior national team, while the Legends will be hosting their first game in team history.
The Legends roster will be decidedly younger, but will not be without veteran leadership. Las Vegas Head Coach Greg Howes is a three-time indoor league MVP and forward Enrique Tovar is one of the indoor game's top scorers over the last decade.
An icon of the Mexican National Team and LA Galaxy, Hernandez score 35 goals in 87 appearances with Mexico. El Matador played in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups and is a two-time Mexican Player of the Year.
Villa was a fixture for Club America, making 434 appearances from 1991 to 2009. The defensive midfielder also represented Mexico 66 times.
The Stars of Mexico also feature some of the top talent in Mexican futbol rapido. Eduardo "Vaquero" Velez, currently a top midfielder with the San Diego Sockers, tied for the PASL scoring lead in 2010-11 with 52 points in 14 games. Edgar Quintin Vazquez and Rodrigo Flores led Guerreros La Raza Guadalajara to back-to-back appearances in the North American Championships and just won the Liga Mexicana Futbol Rapido championship in June.
"It's going to be an honor to match up with players of this caliber," said Howes. "This will be a good test for our team heading into the season and it's a rare opportunity for fans to see some of the biggest names in North American soccer and to get their first look at the Legends."
