Mustaches Return, IceHogs Attempt to Break World Record
November 5, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill. - Once again, several Rockford IceHogs players and staff members are ditching the razors and growing mustaches this month in an effort to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer in partnership with Brovember Inc., a local men's health organization.
The highlight of the month-long initiative will come on Friday, Nov. 27 with a Guinness World Record attempt at the BMO Harris Bank Center. After falling just short last season, the IceHogs and Brovember Inc. will once again attempt to break the record for most beards and mustaches in one place at the that night's game against the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m.
Following the conclusion of the game, all fans sporting facial hair will be invited onto the ice for a group photo in hopes of breaking the world record. Participants in the record-breaking attempt will have the opportunity to download a photo of the hairy horde from the IceHogs website at a later date, and - if a new record is set - will receive a code which they can use toward getting their own certificate commemorating their part in setting a new Guinness World Record.
Throughout the month of November, fans can show their support by making a monetary donation at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office. Each person to donate will receive a "Go-Bro Card" which will be proudly displayed at the arena.
Also as part of the Brovember festivities, the IceHogs will sport special ugly Christmas sweater themed jerseys on Friday, Nov. 27. Following Friday's game, a select number of the specialty sweaters will be auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting the University of Illinois College of Medicine and prostate cancer research.
Fans can choose to participate in the movement by showing off their own facial hair growth throughout the month on social media, using the hashtag #Hogstache. The IceHogs social media outlets will give updates on the IceHogs players' participation in Brovember.
Tickets for the Nov. 27 game, or any upcoming IceHogs home game, are available in person at the BMO Harris Bank Center box office, at any Ticketmaster location including Walmart, or by phone at 815-968-5222 or by visiting icehogs.com.
