Bunting, Mermis Assigned to Rapid City

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons announced today that the Arizona Coyotes have assigned forward Michael Bunting to the Rapid City Rush, the club's ECHL affiliate. In a separate transaction, defenseman Dakota Mermis has also been assigned to the Rush. The 20-year-old Bunting skated in two games with Rapid City this season. The 6-foot, 191-pound native of Scarborough, ON played in 57 games last season with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) and totalled 37-37-74 with 39 penalty minutes (PIM). Bunting was drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round (117th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

The 21-year-old Mermis dressed in two games with the Falcons this season. The 6-foot, 187-pound native of Alton, IL finished last season by skating in 30 games with the Oshawa Generals (OHL) and totaled 5-14- 19 with 50 PIM. Mermis began the 2014-15 season appearing in 36 games with the London Knights (OHL) collecting 1-10-11 with 36 PIM.

The Falcons continue their string of road games with a contest against Portland tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Falcons conclude their three-game road trip in Bridgeport with a 7 p.m. game. All games can be heard live on NewsRadio560 WHYN.
