March 10, 2022 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
The 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave travel to Independence, Missouri to take on MASL Central Division rivals, the Kansas City Comets Friday night at Cable Dahmer Arena.
"We are at a point in the season where we have to get results," exclaimed Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "Coming out of last weekend, losing back to back games by just one goal was difficult, but despite the losses, we took a look at the positives from each game, and there were a lot, and that was our focus this short week going into KC. We are ready."
The Wave (6-10) are on a four game skid with their last win on February 19th at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena against Kansas City. Forward and Team Capitan #26 Ian Bennett leads the team and league in goals and points with 35 and 44. Defender #9 Derek Huffman will miss his 4th game after being served a 5 game suspension in Kansas City February 20th for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Comets (11-5) are coming off a split weekend with the Dallas Sidekicks winning at home Friday night in Independence, Missouri and losing Sunday afternoon in Allen, Texas. Player/Coach Leo Gibson leads the teams with 20 goals on the season and has 15 assists, good for 35 points.
"Playing on the road against the Comets is never easy," added Assistant Coach Tenzin Rampa. "We are who we are, injuries and all, but overall it's been a good week of positivity at practice and the guys are ready for a battle against KC."
First kick from Cable Dahmer Arena is scheduled for 7pm (Milwaukee Time).
