Bradenton Marauders News Release

Bradenton, Fla.--- The Marauders (16-7, 51-37) and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (10-13, 44-45) met for the fifth game of a six-game series at LECOM Park on a rain-soaked evening at the ballyard. Bradenton dominated the pitcher's duel for most of the contest but fell due to a late blast by a final score of 3-2.

Marauders southpaw hurler Dominic Perachi tossed a beautiful six-inning start, allowing a lone earned run off three hits while striking out three of the 24 men he faced.

Ft. Myers snagged a 1-0 lead in the first thanks to a sacrifice fly from Rubel Cespedes, but the Marauders were quick to answer when Lonnie White Jr. drilled a ball up the middle to score Johnson from first, tying the game at 1-1 after one inning.

The Marauders took the lead in the second inning when Yordany De Los Santos sparked a two-out rally with a double down the line to set up Jesus Castillo's RBI single to shoot the Young Bucs ahead 2-1.

The game was very limited in terms of scoring opportunities until the ninth inning, with both teams threatening once or twice to score in the back half of the game.

Bradenton's saves leader Julian Bosnic was called upon in the ninth to seal the win and got off on the front foot with a pair of quick outs to put Fort Myers on the ropes.

Ricardo Olivar stepped up and drew a five-pitch walk, his fourth base on balls of the night; they brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the form of Carson McCusker.

With gale-force winds in play and heavy rain approaching, McCusker hit a looping fly ball pushed by a strong gust over the rightfield wall to give the Mussels a 3-2 advantage.

After Bosnic got the final out in the top of the ninth, the tarp was rolled onto the field, and the game entered a nearly hour-and-a-half delay. When play resumed, the Marauders hoped for another night of late-inning magic, but it was not to be.

Gabriel Yanez handled the Young Bucs hitters in 1-2-3 fashion to seal the visitors' 3-2 comeback win.

With the Marauders up 3-2 in the series, they will look to secure the win in the final matchup of the homestand on Sunday at Noon.
