Sioux City Musketeers News Release
(Sioux City, IA) - The Sioux City Musketeers have acquired defenseman Dylan Gratton from the Youngstown Phantoms. Gratton is a two-year veteran of the USHL and has posted 5 goals and 21 assists during that span. The Penn State commit will immediately bolster a defensive core that saw five key contributors move on to the college ranks from last year's playoff team. In exchange for Gratton, Sioux City gave up a Phase One and Phase Two third round pick next season, and a Phase Two fifth round pick in 2023.
"We weren't actively seeking another defenseman, but when a player of Gratton's caliber and experience became available we felt it was something we needed to attack," Musketeers GM Andy Johnson said after the trade. "Dylan is a transitional, two-way defenseman with a high hockey IQ. He will use his feet to add to the offense. He will play in all situations for us and does everything firmly and with pace. We look forward to adding Dylan to our already strong defensive core for the upcoming season."
