Musicians get first win

The Murfreesboro Musicians won their first game in the WBA expansion franchise's history Saturday night with a 115-100 victory over the Cleveland Majic.

The Musicians jumped out to a 27-11 lead in the first quarter of play at the Musicians Arena at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, TN. "We knew it was important to establish ourselves early against Cleveland, for they have an explosive and athletic team. We were able to do that with our intensity and defensive pressure. It was a big win and night for our franchise!" states Musicians Head Coach, Steve Tucker.

The Musicians led 60-44 at halftime and held off several Majic runs in the second half to secure the victory. Point Guard, Tommy Gunn led Murfreesboro with 33 points and 8 assist. Newly acquired Musician, Cedric McGinnis followed up with 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Dameon Goodman chipped in 24 points.

The victory was especially sweet for the Musicians, for they had suffered a 92-74 loss at Cleveland, TN on Friday night in the opening game of the WBA season for both teams. McGinnis led the Musicians in the loss with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Goodman and Gunn scored 22 and 17 points respectfully.

The Musicians are 1-1 to open up the season and will now play the defending WBA Champion, Rome Gladiators (1-0) in a pair of games on Thursday in Rome, GA and back in Murfreesboro, TN on Saturday night at the Musicians Home Arena at Oakland High School. Tip off for Saturday's Home Game will be at 7pm.

MUSICIANS NOTES:

6'9 Center/Power Forward, Cedric McGinnis has opened the season up as one of the top scorers and rebounders in the WBA. McGinnis is averaging 24 points and 14.5 rebounds per game to of up the WBA season. Point Guard, Tommy Gunn is averaging 25.0 ppg and Swing Forward, Dameon Goodman is scoring 24.0 ppg.
