Minnesota United FC News Release
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (April 3, 2013) - Saturday's fun for the Minnesota United FC season opener won't be limited to the field as the club revealed plans Wednesday for pre-game festivities. Soccer fans of all ages are welcome to attend a tailgate outside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome beginning at 5 p.m. before Minnesota United kicks off the 2013 season at 7 p.m. against the San Antonio Scorpions.
Great general admission seats to the game start at just $12 in advance for adults and are available by calling (763) 792-7355 or visiting www.MNUnitedFC.com . Season tickets and Metrodome 5 Packs are also available and offer significant per-ticket saving over walk-up pricing on gameday.
The evening of free tailgating takes place on the west side of the Metrodome along Kirby Puckett Plaza just yards from the light rail platform. Fans can ride the light rail or any other Metro Transit route for free by downloading a ride pass, which is accessed via the club's website.
Alex Rossi and the Root City Band will provide the soundtrack for the season opening festivities with a live performance of rock and blues, while the Cajun 2 Geaux, Taqueria La Hacienda and Afro Deli & Coffee food trucks will offer eclectic fare for hungry soccer fans. Beer will also be available to fans of legal drinking age.
"We expect this to be a big year, not just for us on the field, but in the stands and in the community, and we want to celebrate that before every game we play downtown," said Djorn Buchholz, Minnesota United FC vice president of sporting operations. The club will host similar tailgate parties two hours before kick off of all five games it plays at the Metrodome between Saturday and June 8. "Alex Rossi and the Root City Band will bring a lot of energy to the stage to help get people excited well before the opening whistle."
Street teams from 96.3 K-Twin radio and City Pages will be on hand to help build that excitement with fans and promotional giveaways. The giveaways will continue on the way into the stadium, as all ticketed fans will receive a 2013 Minnesota United FC schedule magnet on their way to their seats.
