Edmonton, Alberta (April 3, 2013) - Eighteen players will board the plane at noon tomorrow.

Destination: Fort Lauderdale.

Purpose: Earn three points from their season opener.

Coach Colin Miller has named the official roster leading into his first NASL season, the team's third, and there are a lot of new faces mixed in with a handful of Eddie veterans.

In goal FC Edmonton will start the season with two 'keepers. Both Lance Parker and John Smits return to the fold after a trying 2012 season.

In front of them on the backline, FCE Captain Albert Watson will lead the way once he recovers from a knee injury. Adrian LeRoy is the latest signing. LeRoy returned to Edmonton after a stint with the Harrisburg City Islanders last season. Joining the two is loanee Carlyle Mitchell, returning players David Proctor and Antonio Rago and knew signings Mallan Roberts, Eddie Edward, Lance Laing and Chris de Guise.

Most of the new faces will be in the midfield, with Shaun Saiko as the only returning player. Hanson Boakai, Neil Hlavaty, Massimo Mirabelli, Edem Mortotsi, Michael Nonni, Wes Knight and Chris Nurse will join the club's all-time leading scorer in the middle of the pitch.

Up front Michael Cox and Elvir Gigolaj are back for another season. Joining the strikers this season are Daryl Fordyce, Sadi Jalali and Ajeej Sarkaria.

"Colin has selected a big, strong and fast team and I'm personally confident that we'll make our mark on the league early on," said the club's GM Rod Proudfoot. "There are pros and cons to starting our season on the road (first three games) but if we can earn points early and come home with a decent record, we'll have set ourselves up well for the home games."

FC Edmonton kick off the 2013 NASL season against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Saturday (kick off at 5:30pm MT) at Lockhart Stadium. The team will stay on the road for a week before playing the RailHawks in Carolina.

They'll return home for the week and then fly out to Minnesota for the third road game in a row.

The Eddies' first home game will be at Commonwealth Stadium as they take on the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the Amway Canadian Championships. The first NASL home game will be the following Sunday (April 28) at Clarke against the San Antonio Scorpions.

The away game viewing party will be at the Pint off Whyte.
