Madison Capitols News Release

Middleton, WI - Another Madison Capitols player has made a Division 1 college commitment as forward Gustav Muller committed to Long Island University. Muller will join a brand new class of players for LIU's inaugural season this coming fall.

"The opportunity to be the first class at LIU was a unique opportunity," says Muller. "The chance to play for a highly regarded coach like Coach [Brett] Riley is very exciting!"

Muller hails from Hudiksvall, Sweden, where he spent time for his hometown teams, including parts of three seasons in the top Swedish junior league, the SuperElit. The 6-foot, 192-pound forward posted 26 goals with 20 assists in 90 games in the SuperElit before joining the Capitols. Muller was only the sixth player from Sweden to don the Capitols navy.

The 1999 birth year was in his final eligible year of junior hockey when the Capitols selected him in the 11th round of the 2019 Phase II Draft.

"Getting the chance to play in Madison, and in the USHL, helped prepare me to make the jump to play college hockey. Playing and practicing against high end players has made me a better player."

Muller finished the season with six goals and four assists, but really excelled in the clutch moments of the game for the Capitols.
