Orlando Rays News Release

Zebulon, N.C.— Carolina rallied to erase a 3-0 Orlando lead as the Mudcats downed the Rays 6-4 at Five County Stadium Saturday.

Amado German went 3-5 with a double and two RBI for Orlando, who slipped to 20-27 on the second half and 51-64 on the year. Five O-Rays had doubles on the night, with German, Shawn Riggans, Juan Salas, Dan DeMent and B.J. Upton all collecting two-base hits. Gomes also scored twice and stole a base, and German also swiped a bag in the loss.

The injury bug hit the O-Rays Saturday night, as three Rays left the game with undisclosed injuries. Starting pitcher Gerardo Garcia left after one pitch in the fourth inning, while Salas and Joey Gathright left after being struck by foul balls.

The Rays and Mudcats continue their four-game series tomorrow at 5:00, with Orlando sending RHP Jim Magrane (8-6, 3.59) to the mound against Carolina righty Denny Bautista (4-2, 3.55).
