July 10, 2003 - Southern League (SL1)
Mississippi Braves News Release

GREENVILLE, SC -- Three walks, two wild pitches, and an error all in the same inning led to three unearned runs and a 6-2 Carolina Mudcats win over the Greenville Braves Thursday night at Greenville Municipal Stadium. G-Braves pitching got into the record books in two dubious categories as they tied an all-time high with four wild pitches and tied the season high walk mark with nine free passes.

The Mudcats jumped on G-Braves starter Bubba Nelson for two runs on five hits in the first two innings as 11 batters came to the plate.

Greenville cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second as centerfielder Ryan Langerhans led off with sharp single to right off of Mudcats starter Denny Bautista and came around to score on Bryce Terveen's two-out single to center.

The G-Braves knotted the game at two in the fifth inning. Pete Orr legged out his first triple of the season to begin the inning, and he was promptly plated by a James Jurries infield single.

The game remained tied at two until the eighth frame. Adrian Gonzalez got things going for the Mudcats with a 400-foot double to center, and shortstop Josh Wilson followed with a sacrifice bunt to get Gonzalez over to third. The G-Braves brought the infield in and reliever Kevin Barry got pinch hitter Chip Ambres to ground to short, but the ball went through Orr's legs into left. Three walks and two wild pitches later and the score was 5-2 Carolina.

Steve Kent (4-4) pitched two innings of relief to pick up the win, and Sean Fesh got the final six outs to earn his sixth save of the season. Ray Aguilar (0-4) got the loss for Greenville.
