MUDBUGS GET FIRST WIN AGAINST STEELHOUNDS THIS SEASON

Two outstanding individual efforts helped carry the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs to a 5-3 victory over the Youngstown SteelHounds last Thursday night at CenturyTel Center. Joe Ori scored two goals in the first period, 26 seconds apart. Youngstown evened the game with two second period goals by Dallas Anderson and Jeff Christian at 3-3. Chris Abbott took the games into his own hands late in the third. He skated coast to coast and deked the defenseman to beat Brad Roberts through the five-hole. Abbott's empty net goal sealed the victory for Bossier-Shreveport.

EAGLES END MUDBUGS WINNING STREAK

Bounces simply would not fall the Mudbugs way in hard fought 4-2 loss at home last Saturday against Colorado. The Mudbugs out shot Colorado 41-21 and out-chanced them all night long but couldn't gain the leading edge. Jay Birnie's game winning goal was the difference maker as the Bugs couldn't match Colorado's offense in the second period. Forbes MacPherson scored the Mudbugs' loan power play goal and Daniel Pegoraro scored his 13th goal of the year.

MUDBUGS STARS OF THE WEEK

JOE ORI - Showed his true speed scoring, skating over half the length of the ice two score two goals in the opening minutes of the game. Added an assist in Saturday's game.

JASON BASILE- Had a power play goal against Youngstown and an assist on Saturday against the Eagles.

CAM ABBOTT - Displayed the other side of his game out-skating a defenseman and scoring for the game winner on Thursday night.

NEWS AND NOTES

-Forbes MacPherson played in his 600th professional game on Saturday.

-The Bugs winning streak of 10-0-2 was snapped on Saturday night, the Mudbugs set a season-high five straight wins in that period of time.

ALL-STAR BANQUET TICKETS ON SALE

Last minute tickets to the 2007 All-Star Banquet dinner presented by Dodge are still available. The Banquet will be held on January 16th from 5:30 PM-8:00 PM at the Horseshoe Casino RiverDome. Colorado Avalanche President Pierre Lacroix is scheduled to speak at the event. Comedian Jim Breuer will also perform for the crowd. Call 318-752-BUGS to reserve your tickets today

ALL-STAR FANFEST

Come meet all the 2007 CHL-All Stars and get your picture taken with the Stanley Cup from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Louisiana Boardwalk. Free All-Star posters will be given out, sponsored by McKay consulting. In the event of poor weather conditions, the Fanfest will move to the Boardwalk parking garage.

STANLEY CUP

The Stanley Cup will be making several appearances on Tuesday, January 16th and Wednesday the 17th. You can see it at Landers Dodge between 2 and 4 PM on Tuesday afternoon, Mudbugs All-Stars John DeCaro and Jason Basile will be there to greet fans. You can get your picture taken with the Cup for a donation of $5.00. Proceeds benefit the Sutton Children's Hospital. The Cup will also be at the All-Star Banquet on Tuesday night and at the Fanfest and Game on Wednesday.

2007 DODGE CHL ALL-STAR GAME

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs host the CHL's mid-season classic, Louisiana style! Come watch the best in the league and support four of your Mudbugs as they represent the team (Dan Wildfong, Ken Carroll, John DeCaro and Jason Basile). Group tickets are available at 318-752-BUGS. Scheduled start time for the game is 7:05 PM on Wednesday night.

THIS WEEK -

The Mudbugs begin the second half of the season when they visit Youngstown for a two game series versus the SteelHounds on Friday and Saturday of this week. The Mudbugs are (1-1-0) this season against Youngtown and lead the all-time series (6-3-1)
