Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 0-2-0 OVERALL RECORD: 8-20-4, 20 pts., 4th Place Northwest Division
Jan. 12 vs. New Mexico Scorpions, 6-3 Loss - The Rage raced to an early 2-0 lead when Chip Dunleavy scored a pair of power play goals in the game's first 7:19. After New Mexico erased the deficit and moved ahead with three straight tallies, Matic Kralj then squared the game at three mid-way through the second period. The visitors re-asserted themselves, though, and finished the game with three unanswered goals.
Jan. 13 vs. New Mexico Scorpions, 3-1 Loss - Rocky Mountain put forth a gritty effort as they began the game with only 11 available skaters. Again the Rage jumped into the lead initially with a power play goal in the first period from Trevor Weisgerber. The Scorps tied the contest with a power play goal late in the first and took a 2-1 lead mid-way through the middle frame. The Rage scraped and clawed in an effort to find the equalizer but in the end yielded an empty-net goal with under 10 seconds to play in regulation for the final margin.

NOTES
* The Rage reach the CHL All-Star Break having played exactly one-half of their 64-game regular season schedule. In order to qualify for the President's Cup Playoffs, the team will have to move up into at least sixth place in the Northern Conference by season's end. Rocky Mountain begins the second half in eighth place in the conference, nine points behind the seventh place Tulsa Oilers and 11 points behind the Wichita Thunder, who currently occupy the conference's final playoff spot.
* Mark Wires will be representing the Rage when he plays for the Northern Conference side during Wednesday's CHL All-Star Game in Bossier-Shreveport, La. Wires (10g-14a) and Trevor Weisgerber (11g-13a) are currently tied for the team lead with 24 points.
* Saturday's tilt against the Killer Bees will be a homecoming for not only head coach Tracy Egeland, who coached in Rio Grande Valley the past three seasons, but also for Bret DeCecco, Matic Kralj, Clay Plume, Nathan Rosychuk, and Weisgerber, who all played for Egeland and the Bees last season.
* The injury bug has taken a big bite out of the Rage in the New Year. Since their 2006-ending, 3-2 shootout win against the Oklahoma City Blazers, the club has yet to skate with more than 13 skaters in uniform. And by the end of Saturday's game against New Mexico, Rocky Mountain was down to just 10 skaters as Dorian Anneck, Preston Briggs, DeCecco, Chip Dunleavy, Jordan Little, Rosychuk, and Dan Vandermeer were all out of the line-up.
