Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

MEMPHIS STUFFED 3-1 – On Tuesday night, the Mudbugs earned their fifth straight road win with a solid defensive effort in a 3-1 victory over the Memphis RiverKings. Memphis appeared to be off and running in the first period with a goal on their first shot of the game just 36 seconds in as Allan Carr picked up a loose puck in front of goaltender Ken Carroll and scored his sixth of the season. But Ryan Manitowich would answer for Bossier-Shreveport at 10:38 with a breakaway goal to tie the game at 1-1. After a scoreless second period, the Mudbugs capitalized on a giveaway by Memphis goaltender David Lemanowicz behind the goal and Brett Smith fired the puck into a vacated Memphis net for his second goal of the season. Chris Brassard would end the contest with an empty-net tally to seal the 3-1 win.

KENNY'S NIGHT VS. FT. WORTH – Ken Carroll made 21 saves and earned his 100th professional victory on Friday night as the Mudbugs defeated the Fort Worth Brahmas 4-0 in front of 4,772 fans at the CenturyTel Center. Both teams battled in a scoreless tie until 2:55 of the second period when Chris Brassard skated in on a breakaway and lifted a shot over Brahmas goaltender Larry Sterling for his fifth goal of the season. The Mudbugs then took control of the game in the third period as Dan Wildfong took a Forbes MacPherson pass at 4:41 and one-timed a shot past Sterling for his team-leading 11th goal of the year. Ryan Manitowich and Brett Smith would then score just twenty seconds apart later in the period for a 4-0 lead.

RIVERKINGS WITH A STUNNER – With an overtime goal from Phil Aucoin and 37 saves from J.F. Racine, the Memphis RiverKings stunned the Mudbugs and the CenturyTel Center crowd of 5,871 on Saturday night with a 4-3 win. The overtime loss ended the Mudbugs' three-game winning streak and dropped their overall record to 8-4-3 this season. With Memphis up 1-0 after the first period, the Mudbugs took control of the game in the second frame as Jason Basile scored two goals and gave his team a 3-2 edge after forty minutes. Bossier-Shreveport shut down the RiverKings for the first 19 minutes of the third period, but Memphis tied the game late with a power play goal at 19:18 and ended the contest in overtime as Phil Aucoin rushed through the Mudbugs defense and scored the game-winning goal.
