Shawn Legault recorded his first two-goal game as a Scorpion while Jordan Bianchin netted his first professional goal, a shorthanded tally that turned out to be the game-winner. Daniel Tetrault also scored for the Scorpions while Miguel Beaudry was forced to make just 15 saves in goal.

SCORPIONS 5, ODESSA 3 – Mike Possin registered two goals and an assist while Randy Murphy scored twice to lead the Scorpions to a 5-3 win over the Jackalopes Friday night. Shawn Legault added a goal and an assist for the Scorpions while Daniel Tetrault, Mike Oliveira and Trevor Hammer each notched a pair of helpers. Legault's goal 56 seconds into the third period gave the Scorpions a 4-0 lead before Tom Kotsopoulos, Joel Irving and Mike Rutter scored 45 seconds apart to cut the gap to 4-3. Guy St. Vincent made 33 saves in recording his second win of the season.

SCORPIONS 4, ODESSA 1 – Shawn Legault and Peter Ambroziak each registered a goal and an assist as the Scorpions swept the two-game series from the Jackalopes with a 4-1 win on Saturday. Jordan Bianchin and Legault scored to stake the Scorpions to a 2-0 lead after one period. Konrad McKay and Ambroziak tallied power play goals in the third. Miguel Beaudry stopped 23 of 24 shots for the victory.

SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS –

LUBBOCK – The Scorpions face the Cotton Kings for the first of six meetings this season on Friday at Tingley Coliseum. The Cotton Kings are off to an 8-6-0 start although they have dropped their last two games. New coach Chris Dashney has just three players back from last year's team and a returning King in goalie Lance Leslie (5-4-0, 2.55 GAA), who played in Lubbock from 2000 to 2002. One of those returning players, Anders Strome, leads Lubbock in scoring with 10 goals and 15 points. Lubbock is fourth in the CHL allowing 2.64 goals per game.

BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT – The Mudbugs and Scorpions renew acquaintances on Saturday after the teams each won on home ice in two games last season. Coach Scott Muscutt's team is currently second behind Fort Worth in the Northeast Division and 7-1-2 in their last ten games. The Mudbugs are second in the CHL allowing 2.27 goals per game, behind only Colorado. Dan Wildfong leads Bossier-Shreveport with 11 goals, 21 points and 60 penalty minutes. Goalie Ken Carroll (6-1-1 record) is second in the league with a 1.72 GAA.

AMBROZIAK BREAKS 500 – With an assist on Shawn Legault's third period goal on Friday against Odessa, Peter Ambroziak reached the 500-point mark for his professional career. He added a goal and an assist on Saturday to give him 502 total points in 660 career games. Of that total, 326 points have come in 278 games with the Scorpions. The 33 year-old native of Kanata, Ontario is the Scorpions' all-time leader in goals, assists, points and games played.

STINGERS – The Scorpions' 11-4-1 start through 16 games is the best since the 2000-01 team went 11-4-2 in their first 17 games... Shawn Legault and Mike Oliveira each have a point in six straight games... Legault currently has the longest streak in the CHL with a goal in five straight while Oliveira leads the loop with an assist in all six games... The Scorpions' three-game winning streak is their second this season as they also won three in a row from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2... Randy Murphy needs one more point to become the fourth player in Scorpions history with 200 points, joining Peter Ambroziak, Sylvain Naud and Todd Marcellus... The Scorpions are still one of just two teams in minor pro hockey not to allow a power play goal at home... The Scorpions are perfect in 35 chances over seven games while the Macon (Ga.) Trax of the Southern Professional Hockey League have not allowed a power play goal in 12 opportunities over just three games... New Mexico is still first overall in the CHL on the power play (27.3 percent) and first at home (36.7 percent) as well.
