Mudbugs Training Camp Underway

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced the start of their 2009-2010 training camp, along with the names of the 25 players on the team's training camp roster. The Mudbugs held their first official practice this morning and will be on the ice every day this week in preparation for a pair of preseason exhibition games against Mississippi this weekend.

Bossier-Shreveport will host the RiverKings at 7:05 pm Saturday night for their first preseason game at the CenturyTel Center in seven years. The game will feature all general admission seating with tickets available for purchase at the CenturyTel Center box office only. Cost is just $5.00 for Mudbugs 2009-10 season ticket holders and $8.00 for non-season ticket holders.

Prior to Saturday's home exhibition game, the 'Bugs will travel to Mississippi on Friday night to face the RiverKings in their first preseason action of the year at the DeSoto Civic Center.

The Mudbugs' 2009 training camp roster features 12 players returning from last season and three more from the 2007-08 Mudbugs who have come back after playing elsewhere last year. Also competing for roster spots are six new players with prior professional experience and four rookies. Bossier-Shreveport currently has one open roster spot for a veteran-status player, with Joe Blaznek, Travis Clayton and Shawn Limpright in camp as the three players with over 300 career professional games played.

The 'Bugs current training camp roster includes 16 forwards, seven defensemen and goaltenders Ken Carroll and John DeCaro. DeCaro recently returned from a training camp stint with the NHL's Nashville Predators, while forward Tyrel Lucas is also back in town after attending Rochester Americans (AHL) camp. Six players on the initial roster are American natives, while the other 19 all hail from Canada.

The Mudbugs will begin their 13th season in Bossier-Shreveport on Friday, October 16 against the Laredo Bucks at CenturyTel Center.
