
Mudbugs Top the Jackalopes

The Sheveport Mudbugs (22-17-7) got big goals from a pair of third year forwards to lift themselves to a gritty 2-1 win over the Odessa Jackalopes Saturday night in Georges Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.
Shreveport opened the scoring for a change in the opening period when Jay Feiwell drove the net and drilled home his 13th goal of the season at 13:54. Gueorgui Feduolov and Warren Natyshak earned the assists. The Bugs led in SOG, 12-9 after one period of play.
Shreveport added to their lead in the 2nd period when Jack Jaunich did a nifty move through the slot and faked out the goalie and fired home his sixth goal of the year. Timmy Clifton and newcomer Matt Weber grab the assists on the play at 11:37..Odessa did come back at 15:48 when Jan Blasko banged in his second goal this weekend making it a 2-1 contest. Mudbugs led in SOG, 24-20 after two peruods of play.
The Bugs held that 2-1 in the 3rd period as Maiszon Balboa was sensational in the cage making big stops near the end of the game to preserve the win for Shreveport.
Balboa made 30 saves to earn his fourth straight win in net.
With the victory, the Mudbugs will stay in second place in the South Division at the end of the night.
The Mudbugs will conclude their season long nine-game homestand next weekend as they'll battle the South Division leading Amarillo Bulls for a two-game series. Game 1 is next Friday night with puck drop scheduled for 7:11 p.m. ?
