Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - Complete 60 minute games have been something the Amarillo Bulls have struggled with in the past several weeks, but that all changed on Friday night at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.

The Bulls netted two goals in each of the first two periods and went on to beat the Lone Star Brahmas 5-1 for their 32nd win of the season and 18th on home ice. Logan Jenuwine led the attack with two goals and an assist, while Nick Trela, Alex Peterson and Jake Willets had the others. Jason Grande posted the win in goal and had his shutout bid ended midway through the third period.

Brahmas goaltender Matt Sankner made some key saves early on some pressure from the Bulls offense. Sankner kept his team in the game early and allowed them to remain in the hunt. It was the goaltender's first start in the NAHL this season.

After a slow start between the two teams, the Bulls got the offense rolling in the 2nd half of the first period. Jake Willets scored an unassisted marker at the 11:14 mark. In the final minute, Logan Jenuwine was left uncovered on the far side of the net and he was able to fire one past the goaltender to extend the lead to 2-0. Gabriel Seger and Louis Helsen picked up assists on the scoring play. The Bulls outshot the Brahmas 11-8 in the first period.

It didn't take the Bulls long to strike to begin the second period as Nick Trela scored inside the first minute from David Ojamae and Brendan West. Ojamae extended the drive with some great work at the blue line to keep the puck inside the offensive zone.

Alex Peterson added to the Bulls lead at the 13 minute mark thanks to the hard work by Logan Jenuwine and Gabriel Seger. Peterson was left alone near the front of the net and pushed a pass from Jenuwine into the net. The Bulls outshot the Brahmas 9-8.

The teams traded goals in the third period to round out the scoring. Vadim Kiryakov scored on a turnover in the high slot area to break the shutout bid of Grande. Logan Jenuwine added his second goal of the game on a great play inside the blue line at 15:34.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Lone Star Brahmas 27-19. Neither team was able to get a power play goal in the contest on a combined four chances.
