Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - This weekend, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will host a pair of weekend home games at CenturyTel Center for the first time this season. Friday night the Bugs take on the Tulsa Oilers and Saturday night they face off against the Rocky Mountain Rage. We've also got great events planned for both nights that you definitely won't want to miss!
Friday night as the Mudbugs battle the Tulsa Oilers, it's also your chance to "Show Clawed You CAN!" with the first night of our annual canned food drive. Help us fight hunger in Northwest Louisiana by bringing non-perishable food items to both games this weekend. All donations will go to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, which is dedicated to assisting the approximately 90,000 hungry individuals within a seven parish area.
The 5-1 Mudbugs will be looking for a repeat performance of last week's meeting when they play their second straight game against the Oilers this Friday, presented by International Used Truck Center of Shreveport. The Bugs scored eight goals in the first two periods last Friday night in Tulsa, eventually building a 9-1 lead before going on to win by a final score of 9-3. While the Bugs were idle on Saturday night though, the Oilers earned their first victory of the season, 3-1 over Wichita. Friday's game will be Tulsa's first visit of the season to CenturyTel Center, where the Mudbugs won their last four meetings with the Oilers.
Saturday night when Bossier-Shreveport takes on Rocky Mountain, we will hold our annual Military Appreciation Night activities. Throughout the evening, the franchise will recognize and honor active members and veterans of the United States Armed Services. The Mudbugs will also be wearing special patriotic themed jerseys that will be auctioned immediately following the game on Saturday night. As always, discounted single-game tickets are available to anyone with a valid military I.D. Military Appreciation Night is presented by McKay Consulting.
Rocky Mountain will be looking to right the ship on Saturday night against the Mudbugs after a 1-6 start to the 2008-09 season. It will be the Rage's only appearance at the CenturyTel Center this season, out of just two regular season meetings between the teams this year. The Bugs will travel to Broomfield, Colorado to face Rocky Mountain on November 21st in the other. The Mudbugs and Rage played three entertaining games last season, with the purple and teal prevailing twice and falling in a shootout in the other meeting.
