Jacks Make A Pair Of Roster Moves

(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes of the Central Hockey League made a couple roster moves today, sending forward Mark Johnson to Bossier-Shreveport for future considerations and signing Ryan Palmer to the team.

Johnson was in the middle of his second season with the Jacks before being traded to the Mudbugs. This season he's appeared in six games for the Jackalopes, scoring one goal.

"We felt we needed another experienced defenseman," said Jacks' head coach Paul Gillis, "So we needed to open a roster spot. We think the world of Mark and are sorry to lose him but in the best interest of the team we had to make a move."

Ryan Palmer has signed with the Jackalopes after appearing in 63 games for the team last season, scoring nine points (two goals, seven assists). He first joined Odessa in the 2006-2007 season after being traded to the Jacks in exchange for Donnie Margettie on February 12, 2007.

"(Palmer) is that big, strong, experienced defenseman we need right now," said Gillis. "He can handle the opposing teams speed and will give us more depth at the defense position."

Palmer has played in 82 career games wearing a Jackalopes uniform. The Groton, Massachusetts native has scored three goals and 11 assists for 14 points.

The Jacks are currently 4-2-1 on the season and being a three game road trip in Laredo on Thursday night at 7:00 PM. The game can be heard on 97 Gold.
