Mudbugs To Face Killer Bees, Eagles This Weekend

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs play at home twice this weekend, hosting Rio Grande Valley tomorrow night and Colorado on Saturday night at the CenturyTel Center. Friday is "Cowboy Up Night" presented by Horseshoe Hotel & Casino and Saturday is our celebration of USA Hockey's "Hockey Weekend Across America", presented by Bailey's Jewelers.
Opening faceoff tomorrow is set for 7:11 pm as Horseshoe Hotel & Casino presents "Cowboy Up Night". Pull on your boots and head on out to the CenturyTel Center for a Western-themed evening as the Mudbugs take on the Killer Bees for the third time this year in an old-fashioned shootout.
Last Wednesday the Mudbugs routed Rio Grande Valley 7-0 here in Bossier City for their biggest win of the season. The Killer Bees have lost twice more since that game (once in a shootout and again in overtime), while the 'Bugs have won three of their last four coming into tomorrow. The Killer Bees, who beat the Mudbugs 5-3 in the first meeting between the teams back in November, are currently in fifth place in the Southern Conference.
The Mudbugs will take on the Northern Conference rival Colorado Eagles Saturday night at 7:05 pm, presented by Bailey's Jewelers. The 'Bugs will be joining in USA Hockey's "Hockey Weekend Across America", when the nation takes an opportunity to celebrate the great game of hockey at all levels. Get involved in the fun by wearing your favorite hockey jersey, bringing a friend to the rink and celebrating local hockey heroes with the Mudbugs Saturday night!
The 'Bugs and Eagles will meet for the third and final time in the regular season this weekend with two big Northern Conference points on the line. Colorado topped Bossier-Shreveport in a pair of one-goal games at the Budweiser Events Center just two weeks ago by scores of 4-3 and 5-4 in overtime. The Eagles are battling Rapid City for first place in the North, while the third-place Mudbugs are trying to catch the top two teams in the conference.
