Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League announced today that CHL All-Star defenseman Jon Landry has accepted an offer to play for Kolner Haie (Cologne Sharks) of the German Elite League (DEL) for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.

The DEL is the top league in Germany and is recognized as one of the top leagues in all of professional hockey.

"I would like to thank Coach Marco and the entire Sundogs organization for the opportunity to play in Arizona and to win a CHL Championship," said Landry. "Marco's instruction and guidance has played a vital role in my development as a player. Skating in the DEL is a huge opportunity for me in my playing career and one I am very much looking forward to."

Landry, 26, ranked fourth in the CHL among defensemen in scoring this season with 31 points (9g/22a) in 38 contests and tied-for-third among fellow blue-liners with 14 power-play assists. His plus-8 rating led the Sundogs.

In 203 regular season contests over four seasons with Arizona, the Montreal, Quebec, native recorded 36 goals, 93 assists, 228 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-38 rating.

Landry added three goals, six assists and 18 PIM in 31 playoff contests, helping the club to the Ray Miron President's Cup title in 2008.

"I'm extremely happy for Jon and his opportunity to play in the DEL, one of Europe's top hockey leagues," said Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. "It's been a pleasure coaching Jon and seeing him develop into the player he has become. I wish him nothing but the best as he moves on in his professional career."

Landry's rights will remain with the Sundogs as he will be placed on the team's suspended list.
