Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, CO- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs tied the Northern Conference Finals at one game apiece with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Eagles Wednesday night at another soldout Budweiser Events Center. David Cacciola made 45 saves for Bossier-Shreveport continuing his solid play in net. For the Eagles, the loss only marked their second home loss over the past two playoff seasons. The next three games of the series will be played at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier-Shreveport with games six and seven (if necessary) back in Colorado.

The Mudbugs opened up the scoring for the second straight night when Scott Sheppard wristed a shot past Colaiacovo from the top of the slot for a power play goal. Colorado answered on a goal by Scott Polaski as he split a pair of defenders and beat goaltender David Cacciola glove side. Colorado outshot the Mudbugs 15-7 and both teams converted on their first power play opportunity leaving the score tied after one period.

There was more special teams action in the second period. Brett Smith scored a power play goal for the Mudbugs on a backdoor pass from Blair Manning to take a 2-1 lead over the Eagles. Three minutes later, Brad Williamson scored his first career playoff goal to tie the game once again for Colorado. Bossier-Shreveport did not want to give up the lead and Dan Wildfong tipped in a Dale Lupul shot giving the Mudbugs a 3-2 lead after two periods, it marked the first goal that wasn't on the power play. Colorado thoroughly outshot the Mudbugs in the period 22-8, but were down by one goal 3-2 going into the final frame.

The Eagles had their chances in the final period but could not get the puck by Cacciola. Colorado had an empty net six on four advantage for the final 1:19 of the game and had a couple chances, but just couldn't convert. The Eagles finished the game outshooting the Mudbugs 47-24 but it was the Mudbugs with the road win.

Tune into 99.9 The Point for all of the Eagles road games. Games three and four are Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at 6:05 p.m. MST at the CenturyTel Center.
