
Mudbugs come up big in home opener

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs started off slow in the first period of play, surrenduring two goals to both Patrick Murphy and Serge Dube. Despite going 0 for 4 on the powerplay, the Bugs would come back strong in the second.
Bossier-Shreveport made the most of a 5 on 3 power play opportunity, as Chris Brassard ripped a slapshot beating Laredo goaltender Nathan Marsters top shelf. It was Dan Wildfong who latered tied the game on a rebound during the next powerplay. The scoring wasn't over as Ryan Fairbarn picked up his first goal as a mudbug, scoring on the power play from the deep slot to give the Bugs a one goal lead.
The Mudbugs continued to pour on the scoring in the third period. Karlis Zirnis scored on a deflection goal on the powerplaY, followed up by the only MudbugS even strength goal scored by Daniel Pegaro. The Mudbugs went on to win the game 5-2, but only after a fight involving all 12 skater on the ice. All participants were thrown from the game in the final 2 minutes.
The Mudbugs move to 1-1-1 on the season as they head to Memphis for back-to-back road games on Friday and Saturday night.
