Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced the signings of emergency goaltender Torrie Jung and amateur forward Adam Basford for the 2010 CHL playoffs. Both players should be available to enter the lineup as soon as tonight's Game 3 of the Northern Conference Finals against Rapid City.

Jung, 21, joins the 'Bugs as the second emergency goaltender the team has signed this postseason after injuries to both John DeCaro and Ken Carroll. The Nanaimo, British Columbia native could be on the bench tonight to serve as the back-up to Parker Van Buskirk, who will make his second consecutive start in Game 3 against the Rush.

Jung was selected in the seventh round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning during his junior career. The 6-1, 170-pound netminder recently completed his fourth season in the Western Hockey League, where he played for both Kelowna and Edmonton. Last year with the Oil Kings, the 6-1, 170-pound netminder set career bests with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .912 saves percentage on his way to a 20-win season.

Basford, also 21, comes to the 'Bugs after playing four seasons of junior in the Western Hockey League and British Columbia Hockey League. Measuring in at 6-1 and 175 pounds, Basford played all of last year with the WHL's Vancouver Giants, totaling 28 points (13g, 15a) in 55 games.

This season with Surrey of the BCHL, the Richmond, British Columbia native finished with 19 goals and 44 points in just 33 games. Basford also led the Eagles in playoff scoring with four goals and four assists in six postseason appearances.
