Inside the Numbers

80% - The percent of games between the Rapid City Rush and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs that have been decided by one goal including both games so far in their Northern Conference Finals series. Of the five meetings in the regular season and playoffs, four have been close calls and three of the four one-goal games were decided in overtime/shootouts.

2 - The number of shorthanded goals the Allen Americans have scored this post-season leading all clubs. Jarret Lukin and Mike Salekin have accounted for the SHG's. During the regular season, only three teams had fewer shorthanded goals than the Americans who had eight (Corpus Christi, Wichita and Amarillo).

2-0 - The road record of the Rapid City Rush and the home record of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs heading into Wednesday's game three at the CenturyTel Center. The 2006 Laredo Bucks were the last CHL team to go undefeated at home en route to the finals and winning a championship. Two of the Bucks eight home wins that season came against the Mudbugs.

5 - The current goal streak of Rapid City's Les Reaney who has lit the lamp in each of the last five contests. In the post-season so far, Reaney has 13 points (5-8=13) in six games and three of his five scores have served as game winners (two in overtime). Reaney is currently second in post-season scoring with his 13 points trailing Odessa's Sebastien Thinel by one point.

26.7% - The power play percentage of the Odessa Jackalopes on the road during the post-season compared to 18.8% at home. The Jacks are 4 for 15 away from home with the man advantage heading into three straight games at Allen. Odessa led all teams during the regular season with a 27.3 success rate on the power play. Kenny Bernard and Philippe Plante lead the Jacks with two power play scores apiece.

A Look Back

April 14, 2008 - On this date in 2008, the Arizona Sundogs won game one, 6-4, of the Southern Conference Finals over the Laredo Bucks and eventually went on to win the series in seven games on their way to capturing the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup. Defenseman Chris Bartolone had two goals and two assists and was a +3 in the game that saw the Sundogs strike twice in the third period breaking a 4-4 tie after two periods. BOX SCORE

Series Notes

Mudbugs Counting on the 'D' - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs offense has surprisingly been led by the defense. Both Clay Plume and Simon Mangos have scored two goals in the series versus the Rush leading the way for the 'Bugs. Mangos scored twice during three regular season games versus the Rush showing his penchant for the 'R' on the sweater of the opponent (has five goals and four helpers in eight all-time meetings versus Rapid City). Add in David Pszenyczny's three goals in the Colorado series and Jamie Milam's score in game two versus the Rush and eight of the Mudbugs 23 post-season goals have been accounted for by the blue line.

Whitley the Workhorse - Allen's Chris Whitley has started every game in net for the Americans thus far in the post-season posting a 5-4 record with a 2.55 goals against average. The rookie has allowed three goals or fewer in eight of his nine appearances and has a .915 save percentage in his games. During the regular season, Whitley posted a 31-8-1 record with a 2.60 goals against average.

Beaudry Gives Team a Chance - Rapid City goaltender Miguel Beaudry saw his first action of the post-season in Sunday's 4-3 loss to Bossier-Shreveport as he replaced starter Danny Battochio late in the second period. To that point in the playoffs, Battochio (the reigning CHL Rookie of the Year) had played every minute in net and had won all five Rush games. Beaudry entered the game with his team behind 4-1 but stopped all 10 shots he faced watching Rapid City pull to within a goal with a pair of third period scores before eventually falling to the Mudbugs. During the regular season, the veteran went 15-9-0.

Ramsay Takes a Shot - Odessa's Mike Ramsay was all over the net on Saturday night in the Jacks win over Allen racking up a dozen shots on goal (although he was held without a point). The 12 shots are the most in a playoff game since Laredo's Chris Stanley matched that total in 2008. The CHL record for most shots in a post-season contest came in 1996 when San Antonio defenseman Jim Sprott had 14 shots on goal. Ramsay has three goals and one assist so far in this year's playoffs.
